Cancon statistics
Altogether there were involved in Cancon hundreds of cancer experts, working in 25 countries and 126 partner organisations in Europe. The total budget of the joint action was 6 million euros.
The main outcome of Cancon, the Guide, consists of 188 pages and is a result of three years' work. In addition to Guide, five policy papers and policy briefs based on the papers were published.
Some numbers on communication
The main communication channel of Cancon was the website at www.cancercontrol.eu Altogether 160 news items were published on the website during three years.
The biggest amount of traffic (visitors) on the webpage were right after the Guide was published on 10 February. On that day there were altogether 317 visitors, and on the following Monday 13 February there were 367 visitors on the website.
In addition the Policy papers interested visitors; when the papers were published there were 266 visitors.
The Cancon newsletter was the second most important communication channel, it had over 640 recipients. There were 33 newsletters, including the last one coming out today.
Some other figures
- Cancon Twitter @EU_CanCon has 835 followers, and over 4200 tweets were posted
- Cancon Facebook account has 228 followers, and the most popular posts reached over 600 people
- Cancon LinkedIn has 19 followers, best posts received almost 550 impressions and reached over 400 people
- Cancon Instagram has 80 followers, there were 120 posts
- Cancon YouTube has three videos which have been watched 69 times
- Cancon Google + account has 7 followers; the account was established namely to improve search engine results
And all this is organic, i.e. accomplished without marketing budget or sponsorship.

Cancon had its second joint action meeting for all associated partners on 25 February 2015 in Brussels. The main focus of the meeting was preparing for the compilation of the first Interim report.
The first WP9 Coordination meeting was held on 5 November in Riga. It was hosted by professor Marcis Leja and the location was at the The Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (CDPC) which is supervised by the Ministry of Health of Latvia.
The communications team held its first meeting for its partners in Brussels, on 18 November. The meeting was well attended and gave a good perspective of activities. Cancon work packages presented their status of work.
